Strengthening Organic Farming Through the Rotenia Community

The growth of organic farming in Indonesia requires more than good soil and natural fertilizers — it needs collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Across Indonesia, more growers are moving away from synthetic inputs and toward practices that rebuild soil health over the long term. That shift is rarely a solo effort. Farmers need somewhere to compare results, test methods against each other, and troubleshoot the problems that only show up in a real field.

The Rotenia community was formed to make those connections easier. It brings together smallholders, agronomists, and researchers who share trial data, seasonal observations, and practical advice on switching from chemical fertilizer to organic alternatives.

Regular field visits and gatherings let farmers who have already made the transition mentor those just starting out. The conversations cover everything from application timing and composting to reading soil test results and planning a rotation.

If you farm in East Nusa Tenggara and want to take part, reach out through our contact page — the community is open to any grower willing to share what they learn.
